Taxonomy
Alphadon sahnii was named by Lillegraven and McKenna (1986). Its type specimen is UCMP 125337, a tooth (isolated right M1), and it is not a trace fossil.
It was synonymized subjectively with Alphadon halleyi by Montellano (1988), Montellano (1992), Johanson (1996).
