Taxonomy
Hesperosorex chasseae was named by Tedford (1961). Its type locality is Ricardo, which is in a Clarendonian terrestrial horizon in the Dove Spring Formation of California.
It was recombined as Alluvisorex chasseae by Repenning (1967), Wilson (1968).
