Taxonomy
Nerita salsa was named by Saul and Squires (1997). Its type specimen is LACMIP 7884 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LACMIP loc. 10773, Salt Creek, which is in a Turonian marine sandstone in the Redding Formation of California.
