Taxonomy
Arca obispoana was named by Conrad (1857). Its type specimen is USNM 13330 (lectotype) and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Anadara (Scapharca) obispoana by Reinhart (1943); it was recombined as Anadara obispoana by Stewart (1946); it was recombined as Scapharca (Scapharca) obispoana by Moore (1983).
