Arctocyon acrogenius
Taxonomy
Claenodon acrogenius was named by Gazin (1956). Its type specimen is USNM 20634, a mandible, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Saddle, which is in a Tiffanian terrestrial horizon in Wyoming.
It was recombined as Mentoclaenodon acrogenius by Van Valen (1978); it was recombined as Arctocyon acrogenius by Kondrashov and Lucas (2004).

The crowns of the upper teeth have a more square shape than in A. ferox. The cusps are low, and the paracone and metacone are close to each other. The p2 is greatly reduced or absent. |
