Taxonomy
Protocyon scagliarum was named by Kraglievich (1952). Its type specimen is MMP S 164, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cliffs of Santa Elena Creek, which is in an Ensenadan terrestrial horizon in the Miramar Formation of Argentina.
