Taxonomy
Shonisaurus sikanniensis was named by Nicholls and Manabe (2004). Its type specimen is TMP 94.378.2, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Shastasaurus sikanniensis by Sander et al. (2011); it was recombined as Shastasaurus sikkaniensis by Moon (2019).
