Marzanoptera bertae
Taxonomy
Balaenoptera bertae was named by Boessenecker (2013). Its type specimen is UCMP 219078, a partial skull (partial skull lacking the premaxillae, maxillae, nasals, jugals, tympanic bullae, and bodies of the petrosal), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP V99849, San Gregorio section, Half Moon Bay, which is in a Piacenzian coastal sandstone/siltstone in the Purisima Formation of California.
It was recombined as Marzanoptera bertae by Bisconti et al. (2021).
