Taxonomy

Eoconodon was named by Matthew and Granger (1921). It is not extant. Its type is Sarcothraustes coryphaeus.

It was assigned to Mesonychia by Matthew and Granger (1921); to Cete by Archibald (1998); to Andrewsarchidae by Thewissen et al. (2001); to Triisodontinae by Zhou et al. (1995) and St. Clair et al. (2010); and to Triisodontidae by Hay (1930), McKenna and Bell (1997), Clemens and Williamson (2005), Tabuce et al. (2011) and Clemens (2011).
