It was assigned to Bovina by Gray (1825); to Ruminantia by Owen (1848); to Antilopidae by Lydekker (1878); to Bovidae by Abel (1826), Carroll (1988); to Antilopinae by Agnarsson and May-Collado (2008); and to Antilopini by Grubb (2001), Gentry (2010), Calamari (2021).
