Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
A. Pérez-Garcia 2020Member of Bothremydina defined by the following exclusive characters: smooth outer surface of the shell; long and narrow costal plates, the width of the second being slightly more than twice its length; subhorizontal distal half of the bridge peripheral plates, their free margins being slightly dorsally projected; broad and deep shell sulci, especially those of the carapace; high and convex plastral bridge. In addition, it shows the following unique character combination within the Bothremydina clade: medium size, shell width about 40 cm; maximum width at the level of the seventh peripherals; sutured contact between the second and third hexagonal neural plates, preventing the axial contact between the second costals; inguinal buttress not reaching half of the fifth costals width; posterior margin of the second vertebral scute on the middle area of the third pair of costals; fifth to seventh marginal scutes very close to the medial border of the peripherals; longer pectorals than abdominal scutes in the medial plane; pectorals overlapping the anterior region of the mesoplastra.
