Taxonomy
Lagomeryx was named by Roger (1904) [no type designated by Roger; Gentry and Heizmann, 1993 proposed designating L. ruetimeyeri Thenius, 1948 as the type]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Palaeomerycidae by Carroll (1988); and to Lagomerycini by Grubb (2000).
