Taxonomy
Nautilus subcarolinus was named by von Mojsisovics (1882). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Schreyeralm (Geol Reichsanstalt coll), which is in an Illyrian carbonate limestone in the Schreyeralm Formation of Austria.
