Venerella (Compsomyax) was named by Stewart (1930). It is extant. Its type is Clementia subdiaphana.

It was Katherinella (Compsomyax) by Woodring (1938); it was reranked as Compsomyax by Sepkoski (2002).

It was assigned to Katherinella by Woodring (1938); to Venerella by Weaver (1943); and to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002).
