Paratriisodon was named by Chow (1959). Its type is Paratriisodon henanensis.
It was assigned to Triisodontinae by Zhou et al. (1995); to Arctocyonidae by Chow (1959), McKenna and Bell (1997); and to Andrewsarchidae by Gingerich (1998).
