Taxonomy
Prismatoolithus trempii was named by Sellés et al. (2014). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is IPS-58972, an egg, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is L'Espinau, which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial horizon in the Conques Formation of Spain.

A. G. Sellés et al. 2014Prismatoolithus oosp. nov. is distinguished from any other Prismatoolithus oospecies by showing one potential autopomorphic character (smooth surface with scattered small flat nodes) and by the following unique combination of features: shell thickness from0.25 to 0.53 mm (average of 0.39 mm); angusticanaliculate pore system (50mm in width); relatively large mammillary layer, CL/ML ratio = 1:4–1:5.
