Taxonomy
Plesiarctomys was named by Bravard (1848) [type European P. gervaisii]. It is not extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Paramys by Matthew (1910).

It was assigned to Manitshinae by Hooker (1986); and to Ischyromyidae by Bravard (1848), Carroll (1988).
