It was recombined as Nassa fossata by Ashley (1895), Woodring and Bramlette (1950) and Valentine and Meade (1961); it was recombined as Alectrion fossatus by Oldroyd (1925); it was recombined as Alectrion fossata by Jordan (1926); it was recombined as Alectrion (Schizopyga) fossatus by Oldroyd (1927); it was recombined as Alectrion (Schizopyga) fossata by Waterfall (1929); it was recombined as Nassarius (Schizopyga) fossatus by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Nassarius fossatus by DeLong (1941); it was recombined as Nassa fossatus by Valentine (1957); it was recombined as Caesia fossatus by Hendy (2021).
