Taxonomy

Picrodus was named by Douglass (1908). It is not extant. Its type is Picrodus silberlingi.

It was assigned to Allotheria by Hay (1930); and to Picrodontidae by Douglass (1908), Simpson (1937), Gunnell (1989), McKenna and Bell (1997), Scott and Fox (2005) and Burger (2013).

Synonyms

Megopterna was named by Douglass (1908). It is not extant. Its type is Megopterna minuta.

It was synonymized subjectively with Picrodus by Simpson (1937) and Scott and Fox (2005).

It was assigned to Plagiomenidae by Hay (1930).
