Scrobicula microspinosa was named by Kesling and Chilman (1978) [Types: Holotype, complete carapace, UMMP 59703; Paratypes, UMMP 59701-02, 59704-07]. It is not extant. Its type specimen is UMMP 59703, a carapace.
