Taxonomy
Palaeosinopa was named by Matthew (1901). It is not extant. Its type is Palaeosinopa veterrima.

It was assigned to Proviverridae by Hay (1902); to Pantolestinae by Lopatin (2006); and to Pantolestidae by Matthew (1901), Hay (1930), Van Valen (1967), Gingerich (1980), McKenna and Bell (1997), Rose et al. (2012).
