Taxonomy
Testudo longicollis was named by Shaw (1802). It is extant. It is the type species of Chelodina, Chelodina (Chelodina).

It was recombined as Chelodina longicollis by Shaw (1794), Lydekker (1889); it was recombined as Chelodina (Chelodina) longicollis by van Dijk et al. (2014), Shea et al. (2020).
