Taxonomy
Cubitostrea californiana was named by Squires (2018). Its type specimen is LACMIP 14700, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CSUN Loc. 485, Devil Canyon, which is in a Lutetian offshore sandstone in the Llajas Formation of California.
