Taxonomy
Provanna hirokoae was named by Amano and Little (2014). Its type specimen is JUE 15901, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kuroiwa, which is in a Serravallian deep-water horizon in the Ogaya Formation of Japan.
