Margarites (Pupillaria) columbiana was named by Squires and Goedert (1991). Its type specimen is LACMPI 8353, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LACMIP 5802 Bear Creek, which is in a Priabonian marine limestone in Washington.
