Diagnosis
Reference | Diagnosis | |
---|---|---|
C.-C. Young 1951 | From large to gigantic size plateosauridae, Prosauropoda. Skull small. Teeth,, with short crown and long strong root. They are weakly spatulated and with coarse anterior and posterior serrations. Vertebrae number: neck, 10$ dorsal 14?; sacrum, 5 and caudal 45 or more. Pectoral girdle with well ossified sternum. Pubes weakly constructed. Tibia comparatively short. Mt. Ill is rather long. Anterior limbs are very short. Hand and foot with the firet claw are especially strong. | |
P. M. Barrett et al. 2005 | (cranial features only). Lufengosaurus can be diagnosed on the basis of the following autapomorphies: distinct tuberosity on lateral surface of ascending process of maxilla; low boss on central portion of jugal at junction of the three jugal processes; prominent boss on dorsal surface of rostrolateral process of parietal; and presence of ridge on caudal part of lateral surface of maxilla. In addition, Lufengosaurus possesses a unique combination of character states not present in any other basal sauropodomorph. | |
G. Peng et al. 2005 | Medium-sized prosauropod characterized by moderately elongated skull with triangular naris and large, rounded orbit; short but deep antorbital fenestra; supratemporal openings facing dorsally; straight and slightly compressed teeth with small serrations along anterior and posterior margins; long neck; presacrals rather massive; 10 cervicals, 14 dorsals, 3 sacrals and 45 caudals; long and narrow scapula; elliptical-shaped sterna; short forelimb; radius lacking radial crest; long hindlimb; tibia shorter than femur; digit I of manus and pes strongly proportioned; and digits IV and V reduced. |
