Anguanax zignoi
Taxonomy
Anguanax zignoi was named by Cau and Fanti (2016) [Pliosaurid plesiosaurian with the following unique combination of features: palpebral with orbital projection placed at midheight of orbital anterior margin (autapomorphy); posterior margin of orbital opening with a stepped posteroventral corner; low-coronoid eminence; retroarticular process main axis directed posteriorly; axial neural spine narrow; ventral surface of anterior cervical centra bearing a low and broad midline ridge; rib facets placed dorsally on caudal centra, but not extended on neural arch; posteroventral process of coracoid developed as a distinct trapezoid not reaching laterally the glenoid level, and with straight posterior margin directed posterolaterally (autapomorphy).]. Its type specimen is MPPL 18797, a partial skeleton (Partial skull and mandible, 32 isolated teeth, cervical, dorsal and caudal vertebrae, right scapulocoracoid, partial left humerus, left radius, left ulna, three), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kaberlaba quarry, near Asiago, which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian carbonate mudstone in the Rosso Ammonitico Veronese Formation of Italy.
