Deinocheiridae was named by Kielan-Jaworowska (1969) [nomen nudum in this paper].
It was synonymized subjectively with Ornithomimidae by Gauthier (1986).
It was assigned to Megalosauroidea by Osmólska and Roniewicz (1970); to Deinocheirosauria by Barsbold (1976), Barsbold (1977), Barsbold (1983); to Theropoda by Rozhdestvensky (1977), Carroll (1988); to Ornithomimosauria by Alifanov and Saveliev (2015); and to Ornithomimosauria by Lee et al. (2014), Serrano-Brañas et al. (2020), Hattori et al. (2023).
