Taxonomy
Notosuchidae was named by Dollo (1924). It is not extant. Its type is Notosuchus. It was considered monophyletic by Turner and Sertich (2010).
It was assigned to Notosuchia by Buffetaut (1982); to Mesosuchia by Kuhn (1946), Kuhn (1966), Carroll (1988); to Mesoeucrocodylia by Gomani (1997); to Notosuchia by Andrade and Bertini (2008); and to Ziphosuchia by Carvalho et al. (2004), Turner and Sertich (2010).
