Taxonomy
Phrynosoma anzaense was named by Norell (1989). It is not extant. Its type specimen is LACM 6822/64595, a partial skull. Its type locality is Anza Borrego Desert State Park lizards, which is in a Blancan/Irvingtonian terrestrial horizon in the Palm Springs Formation of California.
