Taxonomy
Placochelys placodonta was named by Jaekel (1902). It is not extant. Its type specimen is FAFI Ob/2323/Vt.3, a skeleton. Its type locality is Jeruzsalemhegy, Physiocardia-beds, which is in a Carnian marine horizon in the Physiocardia-beds Formation of Hungary.
