Taxonomy
Kwanzacetus khoisani was named by Lambert et al. (2018). Its type specimen is CZA 1-16, a partial skeleton (partly preserved cranium, five teeth, the axis, a more posterior cervical vertebra, a vertebral centrum, fragments of forelimb and ribs), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is South Barra do Cuanz, which is in a Tortonian/Messinian marine sandstone in Angola. It is the type species of Kwanzacetus.
