Taxonomy
Goniopygus perforatus was named by Wright (1851). Its type specimen is BMNH E1591 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Crickley Hill (Wright collection), which is in a Murchisonae reef, buildup or bioherm limestone/marl in the Birdlip Limestone Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Hemipedina perforata by Smith (2015).
