Taxonomy
Pronotochoerus jacksoni was named by Leakey (1943). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Omo general, which is in a Pliocene/Pleistocene terrestrial horizon in the Shungura Formation of Ethiopia. It is the type species of Pronotochoerus.
