It was assigned to Capitosauroidea by Schoch and Milner (2000); to Mastodonsauridae by Damiani (2001), Damiani and Rubidge (2003); to Capitosauridae by Chernin (1978), Ingavat and Janvier (1981), Warren and Hutchinson (1988), Carroll (1988), Shishkin and Sulej (2009), Sulej and Niedźwiedzki (2011); and to Capitosauroidea by Schoch (2013).
