Taxonomy

Cacops was named by Williston (1910). Its type is Cacops aspidephorus.

It was assigned to Dissorophinae by Watson (1919); to Dissorophidae by Williston (1910), Olson (1956), Carroll (1988), Reisz et al. (2009), Schoch (2013); and to Eucacopinae by Schoch and Sues (2013), Schoch and Milner (2014).

Synonyms

Trematopsis was named by Olson (1956).

It was synonymized subjectively with Cacops by Milner (1985), Schoch and Milner (2014).
