Chonecetus yabukii
Taxonomy
Morawanocetus yabukii was named by Barnes et al. (1995) [Ashoro Museum of Paleontology]. Its type specimen is AMP 1, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Morawan (Upper tuffaceous Siltstone Member), which is in a Chattian basinal (siliceous) siltstone in the Morawan Formation of Japan.
It was recombined as Chonecetus yabukii by Peredo and Pyenson (2018).
