Aphaneramma gavialimimus
Taxonomy
Aphaneramma gavialimimus was named by Fortuny et al. (2017) [Aphaneramma presents the combination of the following synapomorphies: premaxilla-nasal suture anteriorly directed, not contacting the nostrils; choanae completely included within the palatines; nasal length more than 50% of prenarial length; cultriform process anteriorly widened; and one symplesiomorphy: ventral opening of the orbits in the anterior part of the interpterygoid vacuities.]. Its type specimen is UA-Amb007, a partial skull (Nearly complete skull preserved in negative relief in an ironstone nodule), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Right bank Ifasy River, NE of Anaborano, which is in an Induan/Smithian deltaic siliciclastic in the Middle Sakamena Formation of Madagascar.
