Qarmoutus hitanensis
Taxonomy
Qarmoutus hitanensis was named by El-Sayed et al. (2017) [ZooBank LSID: urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act:4F9F163B-53C5-40A4-80FA84BC2B8DB0D7]. Its type specimen is MUVP 58, a partial skeleton (partial skull and some postcrania), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Wadi Hitan Catfish Site, which is in an Eocene marine sandstone in the Birket Qarun Formation of Egypt. It is the type species of Qarmoutus.
