Taxonomy
Birgeria americana was named by Romano et al. (2017). Its type specimen is NMMNH P-66225, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Winecup Ranch (NMMNH P-66225), which is in a Smithian marine limestone in Nevada.
