Chelonipus torquatus
Taxonomy
Chelonipus torquatus was named by von Lilienstern (1939). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is SMNS 19107, a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Hessberger Quarry, Hildburghausen tracksite, which is in an Olenekian/Anisian terrestrial sandstone/claystone in the Chirotheriensandstein Formation of Germany. It is the type species of Chelonipus.
