Taxonomy
Kuhnemys was named by Chkhikvadze (1999). Its type is Aspideretes maortuensis. It is the type genus of Kuhnemydinae.
It was assigned to Pantrionychidae by Georgalis and Joyce (2017); and to Kuhnemydinae by Jasinski et al. (2022).
