Prothero 2015 | (modi ed from Wright, 1991, p. 80) A hesperhyine peccary, as de ned by having a long cancellous anteroventral process of the auditory bulla, a large plesiochoanal fossa, broad posthamular part of the pterygoid, broad pterygoid process of the alisphenoid that joins the palatge at a high angle, and a shallow orbitomaxillary fossa. It is distinct from other hesperhyines in having a large lacrimal tubercle, a U-shaped margin of the plesiochoanal fossa (V-shaped in more derived hesperhyines), and a narrow lingual cingulum of the P3. |
