Taxonomy
Guilestes acares was named by Zheng and Chi (1978). Its type specimen is IVPP V4959 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Baise & Yongle basins (general), which is in an Eocene terrestrial horizon in the Nadu Formation of China. It is the type species of Guilestes.
