Taxonomy
Triplopus mergenensis was named by Dashzeveg (1991). Its type specimen is PSS 41-1, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mergen (Quarry 1), which is in an Eocene terrestrial horizon in Mongolia.
