Diodora pumpellyi was named by Gardner (1947). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS Loc. 7148 - Gastopod Gulch [Oak Grove Sand], which is in a Burdigalian marine sandstone in the Oak Grove Formation of Georgia.
