Squatigaleus was named by Cappetta (1982) [Sepkoski's age data: K Camp-u K Maes-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Squatigaleus atlasi.
It was assigned to Triakidae by Noubhani and Cappetta (1997); and to Carcharhiniformes by Sepkoski (2002).
