Taxonomy
Geiseltaliellus maarius was named by Smith (2009). Its type specimen is HLMD-Me 10207, a partial skeleton (nearly complete skeleton), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is HLMD pit 14, Messel, which is in a MP 11 lacustrine shale in the Messel Formation of Germany.
