Elomeryx japonicus
Taxonomy
Brachyodus japonicus was named by Matsumoto (1925). Its type specimen is NMJH-A-636-1-1- 37, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Fourth Pit of the Ikeno Coal Mine, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial mudstone in the Nakazato Formation of Japan.
It was recombined as Elomeryx japonicus by Tsubamoto and Kohno (2011).
