Taxonomy
Cypraea (Aricia) caputviperae was named by Martin (1899). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was synonymized subjectively with Barycypraea murisimilis by Beets (1941); it was recombined as Zoila (Barycypraea) caputviperae by Beets (1942); it was recombined as Barycypraea caputviperae by Schilder (1927), Schilder (1941), Landau and Marques da Silva (2010).
